Weekly8_Ramen
This week was pretty heavy for the whole team. We started off with video reference for the animators. Our animators were having trouble with positioning and poses due to my lack of direction in that aspect. So to make up for it we went and shot reference to flesh out the ideas and timing so everyone is on the same page.
We also were able to get the characters into unreal on both computers. The textures appear just fine and now all we had to do was do that for all 8 of our props and characters. We turned each mesh into one texture map or a couple of materials. We then renamed the shader group and save it as a maya file if they weren't already. Then we had to duplicate the mesh clear all history and freeze transformations. The texture was applied to the faces and it was then exported out as an fbx to import into unreal and discarded. We also made two documents for the group so we all know which process we undergo and settings we export under. There seems to be few bugs such as newly referenced props coming in askew, but it was expected which is why everyone was instructed to do alembic caches and referencing.To finish off I also compiled all of the playblasts/alembics for the weekly video. The audio needs to be changed, so once I get my shot updated with more animation and fix the export issues with my files ill zone in on the audio hopefully sooner than later.
